My Father’s Story:

We say goodbye to our Dad, Vernon Chattoo, the son of Ramsundar Chattoo, and Mahadae Dabideen. Our father was known to many as a father figure who he held many titles: He was called Dad, Dadda jee, Vernon, husband, brother, Uncle Vernon, and to us, Daddy. He embodied leadership, pride, and the fulfillment of the American Dream. He left his homeland with a vision, not for self-gain, but to uplift his family. He was a man who valued education, instilling its importance in my brother and I.

He was a father figure to many, from his sisters to his brothers, nieces and nephews, to my wife, to our friends, and to his grandchildren. He had a heart of gold and helped anyone and everyone that needed his assistance—without any hesitation. His pride in us was evident to everyone he knew, especially to my Mom. My brother and I was his pride and joy. He boasted to others about us every chance he got—even during his last days in the hospital. We cannot predict our time here, but we can live with purpose, love, and joy. My father did just that, leaving a lasting impact on many lives. My Mom and Dad were soulmates for 54 years. They were always together and were always there to support one another. He was her protector and she was his guardian angel. They loved each other so very much.

Our father's work ethic, determination, and resourcefulness inspired us deeply. He always encouraged helping others, and we aimed to give him and our mom a better life, just as he did for us. He has now gone home, guided by his faith, reunited with his parents. His spirit lives on in our hearts. We love you, Dad. You will always be the GOAT—The Greatest of All Time of the Chattoo family. We love you, we will miss you, and we will always and forever be grateful to you. You will always be in our hearts. We will continue to make you proud. Until we meet again, may you rest in eternal peace. From your Son, Raj Chattoo
